Provide First Aid — HLTAID011
Formerly known as HLTAID003 / Level 2. This nationally accredited course provides participants with the essential skill and knowledge required to manage life-threatening emergencies. It is relevant for people working in education, aged care, sport, outdoor recreation, hospitality and industry enterprises, as well as in the home. WorkSafe deems this course “the minimum acceptable level of training for first aid officers” (4.1 2008 Compliance Code).

- Respond in an emergency situation
- Airway and breathing management
- CPR techniques
- Appropriate duration and cessation of CPR
- Appropriate use of an AED and demonstration of the ability to follow prompts
- Standard precautions & infection control
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Evaluate own performance

Qualification
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful applicants. Valid for 3 years; the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends a CPR update every 12 months.
Duration
Flexible delivery, 1-day training. Theory workbook to be completed prior to the training date.
Prerequisites
No prerequisite units. Participants should have numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to level 2 of the National Reporting System.
Assessment methods
Formative assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written/oral questions.
